Wednesday Fact of the Day: World’s Largest Dog

Hey everyone,

Today I was searching the internet for the world’s largest dog and I found this!

Giant Celebrity: Outside the front of Oprah Winfrey's studios

‘Giant George’ is a 230 lb Great Dane and is currently the world’s most largest dog. Standing almost four-foot-tall at the shoulder and seven-foot three-inches on his hind legs, George consumes 180 pounds of food a month and sleeps on a queen sized mattress. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, not only is he the largest dog, but he is also the tallest dog ever recorded!

Tuesday Fact of Day: World’s Most Expensive House

Hey everyone,

Ever wondered about where and what the most expensive house in the world is like? Well, today I’m going to provide you guys with that information!

World's Most Expensive Houses

Antilla, Mumbai, India: $1 billion

Land is a premium in Mumbai, which means you build up rather than out,  which is exactly what one of the richest men in the world has done. Mukesh Ambanin has created a 27 storey 40,000 sq ft tower of a house. Billed as ‘the Taj Mahal of the 21st Century’ the towering  structure is home to a cinema, heli pad, swimming pool, Krishna temple,  bar and library – and is rumored to be served by 600 members of staff.

  1. 3 helipads on top. Mumbai corporation has not given permission for making this operational yet.
  2. Hanging gardens within the structure
  3. Swimming pool within the structure
  4. A two storey Health centre
  5. Parking space for 168 cars (6 floors). I initially thought that meant there will be a mini office in the building but apparently that is not the case. All these cars will belong to Mukesh Ambani! Just in case you are interested, he drives a 5 crore Maybach now.
  6. A floor exclusively for servicing these automobiles within the building.
  7. A floor for Home theatre – sitting capacity of 50

Most absurd of all, the house will have a staff of 600 (sic) to do the maintenance activities. That gives a ratio of 1:100 for people living in the house and those who are paid to take care of it. The six lucky ones are the man himself, his wife, his 3 children and his mother Kokilaben. The family will be moving in from their old home ‘Sea Wind’ which was a 14 floor building at Cuffe Parade.

Monday Fact of the Day: Patrick Roy Superstition

Hey everyone,

As many of you know, I enjoy watching and playing hockey so anyways, I thought I’d share a quick fact about hockey. If any of you know Patrick Roy, good for you, but if you don’t, I advise you to look him up because he is one of the NHL’s greatest goalies of all time.

When he was just a rookie with the Montreal Canadiens, a reporter noticed that Roy seemed to get a lot of favourable bounces and the puck seemed to often hit the goalposts.
That’s because, Roy said, he talks to his posts during the game.
“They are my friends,” he said.
Roy’s superstitions have been well documented because he is arguably the greatest goaltender to play the game.
Roy, who holds the NHL record for career wins by a netminder, had a set routine before every game.
During the pre-game, he would skate out to the blue-line and stare at the net, envisioning it shrinking. He would also consciously never step on the blue-line or red-line.

It is stated that the fastest ever mile was 3 minutes 43.13 seconds by Moroccan runner Hicham El Guerrouj. Personally, if I were to do that I would be rushed to the hospital for oxygen. Friday Fact of the Day #3: Supermoon!

Hey everyone,

If any of you have an interest in astronomy, this next fact may catch your attention.

The moon will become full Saturday at 11:35 p.m. EDT May 5th, 2012. And because this month’s full moon coincides with the moon’s perigee — its closest approach to Earth — it will also be the year’s biggest. The moon will swing in 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) from our planet, offering skywatchers a spectacular view of an extra-big, extra-bright moon, nicknamed a supermoon. To view this weekend’s supermoon to best effect, look for it just after it rises or before it sets, when it is close to the horizon. There, you can catch a view of the moon behind buildings or trees, an effect which produces an optical illusion, making the moon seem even larger than it really is.

Friday Fact of the Day #2: Fastest Plane Ever

Hey everyone,

Today’s second fact explains how significantly our military is expanding in the world of technology. Everyday our military works harder and harder to innovate new ideas for almost anything. This next fact will show you how amazing our military really is….

Artist's rendition of the Falcon HTV-2

By the time you finish reading this sentence, the Falcon HTV-2, the fastest plane ever built, could have flown 18 miles. It would get from London to Sydney in less than an hour, while withstanding temperatures of almost 2,000C, hotter than the melting point of steel. This plane will be guided on a hypersonic flight that will reach speeds of 13,000mph (about 20 times the speed of sound) on its return to Earth. Pretty cool right?
